Just as I was finishing the blog below on Cloona, a newsletter popped into my in-box from Village Ways, the wonderful eco-holiday company I went walking with in the foothills of the Himalayas way back in 2007. (I have wanted to go back ever since but a combination of ES [electro-sensitivity which makes travelling difficult] and freefrom awards seem to have got it my way…)
Since my day they have moved out from the foothills into the higher Himalayas, into Kerala in South India, into Rajasthan and even as far afield as Ethiopia – which makes me even keener to go… So, to enthuse all of you, I thought I would revisit the original article I wrote and add a few more pictures. Click here to find it on the FM site.
And, while I am at it….. Into the in-box yesterday had popped another email about freefrom holidays – but this one about a holiday cottage that is freefrom electromagnetic radiation and a lot closer to home – in Sussex.
Said my correspondent:
Here I was amazed to find absolutely no microwave radiation. No mobile phones function here. Across the spectrum of the Gigahertz 59B, from 27 MHz to 3.3 Ghz I observed negligible signal (0.025 max microwatts per sq metre; VBW Std). For the short time I was there the experience was transformative. I have not felt so good in years!
My only concern was the inevitable electrical and magnetic fields associated with the domestic power supply and electrical installations. The fuses can be turned off, and the power cut, as is generally advisable for electrosensitives, at least for those with sensitivity to 50Hz fields.
