Anyone got any ideas as to what is the best and quickest way to deal with a tummy bug in an underweight/allergic child?
My daughter (now 9) has had major digestive problems all her life – was fed through a tube into her stomach for several years when she was very young. Although she is much better now, she is still always chronically underweight so any kind of tummy bug which stops her eating is fairly disastrous as her stomach seems to shrink instantly so that she can’t or won’t eat enough to keep her weight up.
Normally we fast her for 24 hours (with lots of Ribena and TV) and this has worked well until now, but this time she needed a second day on only drinks and jelly sweets as she had diarrhoea too, so of course he stomach has shrunk again. Is there a better way?? I would love to know!
