View Full Version : Will a multivit help a low key intolerance?

I suffer from various fairly low key food intolerances - like I don't do brilliantly with citrus fruits and dairy products - and I have been told that if I were to take a few vitamins and minerals that would help. But I am not really sure what to buy and don't want to spend loads of money on expensive supplements if they are going to be the wrong ones or not do any good.
Does anyone have any experience?

Hi Boris,

This is a difficult question to answer, but I am a medical nutritionist, so will try! Basically, anything you can do to improve your nutrient balance is likely to help - unless of course you are allergic to any of the nutrients. My advice would be to see a good allergist/nutritionist/kinesiologist who could check you for specific products before you try. Failing that, go for an allergy-based one from companies such as Nutrigold, AOR or Biocare. I promise this isn't a sales pitch, but I list every ingredient and allergen on my e-shop so have a read there if it helps you to decide and get it from me or elsewhere. www.purehealthclinic.co.uk.

Other than that, I would definitely recommend a good probiotic and some digestive enzymes to help you break stuff down properly. A good make here is Biocare. Try Spectrumzyme which has extra support to help you break down gluten and dairy, the two primary allergens usually at the heart of any food intolerance in my experience. Good luck.

Hi Micki

Thanks for the suggestions. I think for now I'll have a go with the probiotics and the enzymes and see if that helps - will let you know!

Hi Micki - and anyone else!
Just thought I would let you know that I have been having the Biocare Spectrumzyme - and I threw in one of their multivitamin/mineral supplements for good luck.

I certainly have been feeling better over the last couple of weeks and although I have not be o/ding on citrus or milk products, I have had them occasionally without too awful results.
Mind you, I have also been thinking and trying a bit harder about what I eat and when (didn't want to waste the effect of those expensive supplements!) - so maybe that is helping a bit too!

Anyhow, I'll keep them all up for a bit longer.
