I am seeing more and more children with micro-nutrient deficiency issues in the last few years - it seems to be a growing problem (literally). I'm convinced that part of the problem is that kids who consume a lot of dairy (and therefore growth hormone meant for calves) are growing faster and bigger generally. At the same time, diets have become nutrient-poor because of food choices, the way foods are grown, manufactuered, processed etc etc. I could go on, but I won't, don't worry!
Suffice to say, the kids' supply of nutrients just aren't keeping pace with increased demand.
In case it helps (and because this is really starting to bug me!) I have put a new free factsheet called Back To School on my site at http://www.purehealthclinic.co.uk/children-s-health/back-to-school/. This should give you ideas about healthy packed lunches and the standard supplement programme I recommend for children.
Whilst you're there, I've also just done one about worms (not the good ones, John!), but what to do about the unwelcome ones - called Wriggly Things!
Hope that's helpful.
