Bad experience at the Lowry
I recently attended a function at the Lowry Theatre in Manchester.
I had previously notified the organisers and they had they had confirmed that an alternative lunch would be waiting for me. Needless, to say it wasn't. The Lowry blamed the organisers but the organisers swore they had told them.
It resulted in me having to wait for nearly an hour for something to eat and when it arrived, it was a salad on which was a heap of cous cous. I asked the waiter what it was and he said 'cous cous'. When I said that's wheat he got quite shirty and said the chef had assured him that absolutely everything on the plate was GF.
I insisted it couldn't be but thought maybe it was millet or GF cous cous so had a forkful as I was starving by then, then thought I'd better not continue. I had an almost immediate reaction, my eyes were sore and watering and my head became sore.
Fortunately I've had no other symptoms since but I was very angry and think it's appalling that an organisation with catering facilities could behave like this. If I'd eaten it all I could have been quite ill. There was also a GF sandwich with it, which looked like proper GF bread although white, which I wouldn't normally eat.
