Default Diagnosed coeliac but no symptoms...

I have just read this post on Micki Rose's TrulyGlutenFree site about someone who was diagnosed coeliac but who had no obvious symptoms - so his doctor said that 'he might as well continue eating gluten'....

It is really scary how little the medical profession seem to know about even well researched, common conditions such as coeliac disease. Even though this guy does not currently have any obvious symptoms, if he is coeliac he no doubt will at some point and how much damage may have been done to his underlying health by then?
