Sue from the US has just sent us the following email in response to our blog about Caleigh and KatieBoo both of who suffer from both Crohn's and coeliac disease.

I have celiac disease. Sorry you have both. You're a veteran and I understand that. But please go to this website: breakingtheviciouscycle.info The above "Subject" the folks I listed are the ones who both discovered (Dr. Haas) and further promoted this particular diet for chron's, ulcerated colitis, celiac and autism. You'll not be disappointed. Also, do "searches" to find out even more about those two individuals. You did not need to lose your intestine--no one does if they knew about this website and followed the SCDiet outlined. In much concern for you, Sue

However, as Cathy Stastny has just pointed out, the report highlights the fact that
'The team has thus augmented the play set by adding a wireless networking system and radio frequency identification tags (RFIDs) to the components to add feedback and programmable aspects to the play set'

Wireless technology is absolutely not suitable for children on the Autistic Spectrum. Their cell membranes are a third thinner than neurotypical children so they really do not do well when exposed to wireless technology for all the reason that we all know only too well.

For roughly 2,000 years, Chinese herbalists have treated malaria using a root extract, commonly known as chang shan, from a type of hydrangea that grows in Tibet and Nepal. More recent studies suggest that halofuginone, a compound derived from this extract’s bioactive ingredient, could be used to treat many autoimmune disorders as well.

I know I have one coming my way and I am wondering how to deal with it. I have food allergies, which is fairly easy, but my main problem is electrosensitivity and are they going to dismiss that as non-valid because it is not a 'recognised disability'?

I was planning on putting it down and then listing my symptoms and giving a link to ES-UK as back up. Does anyone have any better ideas?

Vitamin E

*Some forms of vitamin E protect against many cancers, study suggests* (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/04/120423132015.htm) (23 Apr 2012)...

Some forms of vitamin E protect against many cancers, study suggests (23 Apr 2012)
Scientists believe that two forms of vitamin E – gamma and delta-tocopherol – found in soybean, canola and corn oils as well as nuts do prevent colon, lung, breast and prostate cancers, while the alpha tocopherols found in many vitamin E supplements provide no such protection.

This of course supports the view of many nutritionists that one should only take vitamin E supplements that contain mixed tocopherols.

Other points worth noting are that corn oil from the US is likely to be manufactured from Genetically Modified crops, and it is always best to avoid extracted liquid vegetable oils that are heavy in Omega-6 fatty acids, such as sunflower, corn, soy, safflower, canola, and products that contain these oils, such as hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats, margarine and shortening. These oils are chock full of omega-6 fats and will worsen one's omega 6/omega 3 ratio.

Far better to use high quality extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, avocados, and organic butter, especially grass-fed organic butter.
