Does anyone else find that sunshine makes an enormous difference to their mood?
I have been feeling pretty low all winter - quite a lot of iffy things going on in my life but I didn't really feel bad because of them - just felt generally grey and lacking in energy or enthusiasm for anything. Then a few weeks ago the sun came out and literally, overnight, I felt so much better. And that went on as long as we had that lovely weather. Then last week, it went all grey again, and my depressed mood just descended on me again exactly like a cloud. And now, this afternoon, the sun has come out again and I am feeling great!! Does anyone else feel this way? And is it all in my head or could the sun have some actual physical effect on me to make me feel so much better? Any thoughts welcome!

Hi Mushkin,
Sounds like SAD - your levels of serotonin may be low. Have a look at a 5HTP supplement to see if it might help you boost it. Good luck and hope it helps perk you up! Micki |

Have you thought about getting a light box for the winter? Also if it is not too cold or wet in winter go outside for short periods throughout the day. This will help you get more natural light and will help your mood.
Also in winter try eating sunshine foods like oranges and mangos. I find they give my mood a tremendous lift. Might pay you to keep a diary and then speak to your doctor. Make a note of what the weather is like and how you are feeling and then take it from there. |
