Sainsbury's new Korma and Green Thai sauces and Bombay potatoes

All three of Sainsbury's new savoury ethnic products are gluten, wheat and dairy free, using coconut cream very successfully as an alternative to 'real' cream in the korma sauce.
The Bombay potatoes were really delicious, although you wouldn't have wanted to be too hungry as the 150g portion (cost £1.35) did not seem to go very far. However, the flavour was excellent – good herbs, nice depths to the spices and a good hot chilli aftertaste. What's more the potatoes were neither over nor under-cooked – quite an achievement in an ambient product which then needs to be microwaved.
The Korma sauce was very pleasant with a consistent gentle heat and mild spicing which would not overpower whatever meat or fish you chose to use it with, while the coconut cream gave an excellent creamy consistency. Unlike the potatoes, the portion was also relatively generous - the £1.49 200g pack being plenty for two.
The Green Thai sauce, also based more traditionally on coconut cream was not quite so successful. A little grey in colour rather than green we felt that it was rather too sweet, the sweetness rather overpowering the more delicate lemon grass, ginger and lime leaf flavourings. However, like the korma sauce, the consistency was pleasantly creamy.
Also £1.49 for a quite generous 300g pack.
