Peace of Cake London – gluten and dairy-free cakes

Baked from Scratch is a group of bakers across the world both, professionals and enthusiasts, who take pride in letting you know that all their items (down to the jam fillings in Peace of Cake's case) are baked from scratch – no shortcuts, no mixes. They stretch from Taipei and Tacoma to Wahgunyah to Warrington – and a Peace of Cake is the only member to be found in all of London (UK)!

Certainly their cakes do taste totally home made - and totally delicious! The box of samples which arrived in our office (photographed above just before they were scoffed) included biscotti, little flat, soft raisin cookies, a 'tea cake' which looked rather like a rum baba but tasted like a cup cake, and a seriously yummy slice of walnut coffee cake, all of which class as their 'everyday 'cakes. They also sell their home made jam and make some spectacular looking celebration cakes to order.

The flour blend used is rice, tapioca, maize and buckwheat and although all the cake included eggs, none of them included dairy, various vegetable oils being used for the fat content.

All four cakes were excellent (although possibly the biscotti were our eventual favourites) and are not as expensive as you would have expected – £1.95 for 100g of the little cookies, £1.99 for 125g for the every-so-moreish biscotti, £5.95 for an 8 inch round 'tea cake' or coffee cake – plus delivery from:
